How to read this
Each row is one product's full chain of names, drawn to scale against the same time axis.
A segment's color names the transition that started it — a plain rename, an assimilation
after an acquisition, or a technology generation change — the same three kinds as on the
register. The first period of a chain has no transition and carries no color; it is where
the row's story starts, not a change.
The SAP ERP row at the top is pinned there on purpose. Its three eras — SAP R/3, mySAP ERP,
SAP ERP — are the longest-running, most recognizable frame SAP's own history offers, so the
chart uses them as a background ruler: every other row's bars sit against faint bands marking
which ERP era was current underneath them.
Generation changes are muted by default, matching the register's rule that they sit outside
the statistics — turn on "Highlight generation changes" to see them in their own color instead.
Every value shown here on hover or focus is also on the register as
plain text, with its source.
